Austin born, immigrant founded — 40-60 calories a can

In a world of boring sparkling waters,
our flavors never fall flat.

Bawi makes sparkling agua fresca — the drink that was always at the gathering, canned, lightly carbonated, and made with a fraction of the sugar of what it's replacing.

The drink that was always at the gathering

There was a version of this drink in your family's fridge before it was ever a brand — a pitcher, fresh fruit, the first hot day of the year, a table full of people.

Somewhere along the way, the canned, on-the-go version of that same drink got a lot more sugar than the fridge pitcher ever had. That's not a tradeoff anyone asked for.

Our founder has said it plainly, on his own site:

"As a first-generation Mexican American, these flavors remind me of home and community. With Bawi, I'm celebrating that heritage by creating a sparkling, healthier twist on classic agua fresca — bold, refreshing, and rooted in tradition."

— Victor Guardiola, Founder & CEO, Bawi (drinkbawi.com/pages/about)

At Bawi, we believe the drink you grew up on shouldn't ask you to choose.

Not a wellness soda with no flavor memory. Not the legacy soda with the sugar load nobody talks about. Just the fridge-pitcher drink, canned, sparkling, and made with a fraction of the sugar — El Limón, La Piña, La Maracuyá, La Guayaba.

The fridge pitcher wasn't the problem. What replaced it was.

Let's be honest: a $39.99 case of sparkling agua fresca is not the cheapest thing on the shelf. What it replaces is the sugar — Bawi's El Limón runs about 40 calories, against roughly 160 calories and 40g of sugar in a comparable Coca-Cola.

Every Bawi can is built to taste like the drink you actually grew up on — not a lab-engineered "wellness" flavor with no memory attached to it. Real fruit, real culture, a lot less sugar.

What to expect

Can 1

Cracked open, cold, over ice. It tastes like the fridge pitcher — not a flavor you have to learn to like.

Week 1

It's the can you reach for instead of the one with 40g of sugar. Same flavor memory, less of the crash.

Month 1

You've tried all four flavors. Someone else in the house has a favorite now too.

The Next Gathering

Bawi's on the table instead of the usual soda. Nobody has to ask what it is — it already tastes familiar.

Individual experience varies.

2. Chill it, crack it.

No mixing, no prep — sparkling and ready straight from the can.

Numbered step 3: Bawi cans on a table at a real gathering, food and people visible around it

3. Bring it to the table.

The drink that was always at the gathering — now it's just canned.

Hola — I'm Victor Guardiola, founder of Bawi.

Founder portrait: Victor Guardiola, warm natural light, no studio backdrop

I was born in Mexico — the youngest of three — and my family moved to the States when I was two. Growing up in South Texas, agua fresca was always around: family gatherings, the first hot day of the year, a pitcher in the fridge.

  • Drinks that only taste like home if you're willing to take on 35-40g of sugar
  • "Wellness" sodas with no flavor memory attached to them
  • A category that made you choose between culture and health
  • Agua fresca that never made it past the pitcher stage

I started Bawi in 2020, selling out of a cooler at the Barton Creek Farmers Market on Fridays. It took until April 2022 to get a canned, shelf-stable version right — and it's been growing since.

Here's why I believe in the format

  • ✓ It's the same flavor memory a lot of us grew up on
  • ✓ It's a fraction of the sugar of what it's replacing
  • ✓ It's a real conversation starter about Hispanic culture and food

"Food and beverage at large is such an incredible vehicle for culture. Bawi is a Trojan horse for people to open a dialogue about Hispanic culture and food."

— Victor Guardiola (Remezcla)

Still building, one city at a time

Bawi is now in Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Central Market across 44 states — and we're recruiting real local ambassadors, city by city, to help introduce people to it in person. Every can still traces back to the same idea: the drink that was already in your family's fridge, just with a lot less sugar.

Salud — one Bawi at a time.
